To: All Adamawa State Pilgrims Hajj 2026,
Subject: Clarification Regarding the Distribution of Zamzam Water.
Assalamu Alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh,
First and foremost, the Adamawa State Muslims Pilgrims Welfare Commission, ADSMPWC, congratulates all pilgrims from Adamawa State on the successful completion of the 2026 Hajj exercise. We pray that your pilgrimage was accepted and that you return with blessings.
We are aware of the concerns raised by some pilgrims regarding the delay in receiving their allocated Zamzam water. The Commission wishes to issue this explanation to clarify the situation and correct any misconceptions.
1. Role of the Commission vs. NAHCON.
It is important to clarify that the Adamawa State Muslims Pilgrims Welfare Commission has no authority or hand in the transportation or sourcing of Zamzam water from Saudi Arabia to Nigeria. The logistics of airlifting Zamzam water are handled exclusively by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) through the airline contracted to airlift the pilgrims. The role of the State Commission is limited to receiving the shipment upon arrival and distributing it to the pilgrims.
2. Shortfall in Shipment.
Upon the arrival of the shipment in Adamawa, it was discovered that there was a shortage of 200 gallons against the expected total quota. This deficit was beyond the control of the State Commission.
3. Distribution Strategy.
Faced with this shortfall, the Commission had to adopt a responsible strategy to manage the available supply. It was decided that distribution would commence with pilgrims who privately funded their pilgrimage. Consequently, we appeal to our government-sponsored pilgrims to exercise patience and understanding regarding this delay.
4. Assurance of Balance Delivery.
The Commission is actively following up on the missing balance of 200 gallons. We assure all affected pilgrims that once the outstanding quantity is delivered, it will be distributed immediately to those who have not yet received their share.
We thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we resolve this logistical challenge. May Allah (SWT) accept your Hajj and grant you safe returns.
E-Signed,
Barkindo Abdullahi Yakubu,
Special Assistant Technical to Malam Abubakar Salihu, Acting Executive Chairman of the Adamawa State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Commission.
September 9, 2026.
