Some pilgrims from Madagali and Song Local Government Areas of Adamawa State have reportedly spent two days without accommodation in Saudi Arabia, raising concerns among relatives and stakeholders over the welfare of the affected pilgrims.
A message circulating on social media alleged that the pilgrims were stranded without a place to sleep, with calls on NAHCON to investigate the matter and urgently provide a solution if the reports are confirmed.
The development has been described by observers as unfortunate.
Under the Hajj arrangement, state pilgrims welfare boards are responsible for securing and managing accommodation for pilgrims in Makkah, while the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) handles accommodation for pilgrims in Madinah. So far, there have been no reported complaints from Nigerian pilgrims regarding accommodation in Madinah. However, there have been complaints from some pilgrims concerning accommodation challenges in Makkah.
Efforts to obtain official confirmation from the Adamawa State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Commission on the situation were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
