The Association for Hajj and Umrah Operators AHUON has written To NAHCON requesting for the apex hajj regulator’s intervention over the challenge of Private Tour Operators in processing Umrah visas for their intending Umrah pilgrims.

AHUON in a letter seen by HAJJ REPORTERS dated 15th of August 2024 and addressed to the Chairman/CEO of NAHCON said “We humbly write to bring to your notice being our regulator, the restrictions being encountered by private tour operators across the country on the issuance of Umrah Visa for over a month.

According to Ahuon “Unlike in the past, this year’s umrah visa started with a quota system that exposed our members to many risks. The association said its members face serious financial loss if NAHCON did not intervene and urged the commission to persuade Saudi Arabia to increase the umrah quota for Nigeria because of the large number of Muslim populations. It said”

In the letter, AHUON requested NAHCON “to use its good office to intervene through diplomatic corridors by reaching out to Saudi Arabia Ministry of Hajj and Umrah to request the lifting of the quota regime or to increase the quota percentage for Nigeria”

It further appeals to the commission to treat the letter with utmost priority and promises to provide more information whenever needed.
