Abuja – The Association for Hajj and Umrah Operators of Nigeria (AHOUN) has directed its members to suspend all 2025 Hajj activities to press home their demand for accumulated refunds from the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).
The association took the stance in a statement signed by its President, AbdulLateef Yusuff Ekundayo, a copy of which was obtained by the IHR in Abuja.
AHOUN ordered its members to stay action until further notice and enjoined those who have made payment for Hajj 2025 should send their company names to the Zonal VP.
Ahuon said the NEC has met with BOT members and agreed that the suspension of all 2025 hajj activities with NAHCON is necessary to ensure that all its request before NAHCON is met, especially the accumulated refunds over the years.
”It is worthy of note NAHCON responded to our several letters of requests only on Tuesday, 24th September 2024, giving an excuse that Hajj processing should not be delayed to align with the Saudi Hajj calendar. This, to us, is their usual tactics over the years with regards to the issues of accumulated refunds with them and can no longer be tolerated for both parties,” it stated.
While urging members to remain steadfast, AHOUN also assured that it shall explore all legal means to recover members’ rights, including the funds.
