Investment Management Agency Danantara Indonesia revealed that more than 90 parties are participating in the tender for the construction project of the hajj village in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. Danantara Treasury Managing Director Ali Setiawan stated that Indonesia is still awaiting the tender result.
“We are waiting for the results, as there are also many bidders, around 90,” said Ali when met at Wisma Danantara on Friday, November 28, 2025.
Ali could not disclose the value bid in the tender because it is confidential. However, it has been confirmed that bidders are competing to manage the land and buildings for the pilgrims.
Previously, Danantara had confirmed its participation in the bidding to manage an 80-hectare land in Saudi Arabia for the hajj village project. The land area is approximately 2.5 times larger than the Sudirman Central Business District (SCBD) in Jakarta.
The results of the 80-hectare land tender will be announced in mid-December 2025. This hajj village is intended to accommodate Indonesian hajj and umrah pilgrims, especially as their numbers are expected to double in the next five years.
Managing Director of Stakeholders Management at Danantara, Rohan Hafas, stated that the tender will also consider the building concept and supporting infrastructure. The hajj village is also strategically located near Masjid al-Haram. The Saudi government has already planned infrastructure development in the surrounding area.
“Additional information is that the location is only 2 to 2.5 kilometers away, and there is a tunnel and a travelator, so it will only take a 20-minute walk from there,” Rohan said on the same occasion.
Rohan mentioned that one of the facilities provided by the local government is tunnel access. Furthermore, there are escalators and walkways to facilitate people’s mobility.
