As refunds for the 2023 pilgrims are ongoing across the country, the Forum of Executive Secretaries of State Muslim Pilgrims’ Board has appealed to the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria to fast-track remitting the 2024 Hajj balances to the affected states.

Deputy Chairman of the Forum of ES and Executive Chairman, Kebbi State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board Alhaji Faruku Aliyu Yaro-Enabo made the appeal during a meeting with forum members and NAHCON officials in Abuja.

Faruku Enabo said the call has become imperative as it will pave the way for adequate preparation for the 2025 exercise without distraction.

The Deputy Chairman of the Forum noted that the affected pilgrims have been on the neck of State Executive Secretaries, urging NAHCON to expedite action.

Alhaji Faruku explained that if the money is returned to the States, it may likely be forwarded back to NAHCON for the 2025 hajj, insisting that due process must be strictly followed.

Executive Secretaries of Nasarawa, Bauchi, Kogi and Niger among others also add their voices on the matter and called on NAHCON to act fast.

Regarding the 2023 pilgrims refund, the Deputy Chairman of the Forum Alhaji Faruku Yaro  Enabo reassured NAHCON that all states will entrench transparency in the refund process.
