The Federal Capital Territory Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board Abuja, has congratulated its pilgrims for completing the 2026 Hajj rites, after observing a successful Arafat Day.

The Director of the Board, Malam Kadiri Edah made the call in his congratulatory message to the FCT pilgrims at the FCT Tent on the Arafat Day. He then wished the pilgrims an acceptable Hajj and safe return home, as the pilgrims moved back to round off their remaining rituals in Muna Tents City.

Director Kadiri highlighted that the Board had organised a special prayer session for the unity, harmony and peaceful coexistence of the country and as well, the security, growth and development of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

The Director, further, expressed the Board’s profound gratitude to the FCT Administration under the leadership of the FCT Minister, His Excellency, Nyesom Wike and the Honorable Minister of State, Hajiya (Dr) Mariya Mahmoud, for giving the Board all the necessary supports and cooperation to deliver this onerous task.

Malam Kadiri, further reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to the welfare of the FCT pilgrims, especially in line with the Renewed Hope agenda of the present Administration.

The prayer sessions organized for FCT were led by the preachers at the FCT Tents after observing combined Zuhr and Asr prayers for the Day.

The FCT pilgrims performed the Hajj exercise in the midst of the Nigerian pilgrims and other pilgrims from across the world.

The Arafat Day symbolises the climax of the Hajj exercise, where all the pilgrims gather on the Plains of Mount Arafat to worship God.

However, on the Arafat Day, pilgrims engage themselves in supplications and other spiritual activities and abandon all the unnecessary and worldly activities and luxuries, which remind them of the Day of Resurrection and life after death.

The FCT Ulamah, led the pilgrims in the special prayers for the sake of the Unity, harmony and peaceful coexistence of the country. “Nigeria is our country and we don’t have any other country than Nigeria, we ask God in His infinite Mercy to salvage, secure and develop Nigeria and to guide and direct its leaders to the right path”. “Nigeria can simply aspire to become a developed nation, like the US, UK or China and even to be better than Saudi Arabia again”, one of the preachers, commented.

Arafat Day is the Hallmark of the Hajj exercise, where pilgrims complete the Hajj rituals on the Day. This year, around Two Million pilgrims from across the world gathered on the Plains, located outside of the Makkah City, to fulfill their hajj rituals. It is expected that all meaningful and purposeful prayers would likely be answered by the Almighty Allah, especially in recognition of the Glory and Nobility of the Day, as well as the Magnanimity and the Mercy of Allah (SWA).

About 1540 FCT pilgrims participated and completed their Hajj rites this year.
