Press release

In a move towards transparency and accountability, the Director of Finance at the Adamawa State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Commission, Hajiya Maryam Zubairu has issued bank drafts to the Local Government Hajj Schedule Officers for distribution to their respective 2023 Hajj pilgrims.

This action follows the directive of the Permanent Secretary and Executive Secretary of the Commission, Malam Abubakar Salihu, to ensure prompt and secure refunds for pilgrims’ services not rendered during the 2023 Hajj exercise.

The Executive Secretary overseeing offshore Hajj operations in Makkah emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability in the refund process.

The distribution process was closely monitored and witnessed by management staff, anti-graft agencies, and security agencies.

Earlier last month, some pilgrims received refunds directly through their banks. In contrast, those without bank accounts were now provided with bank drafts to ensure that all stakeholders are treated fairly and transparently.

This initiative by Malam Abubakar Salihu highlights his dedication to ensuring that pilgrims receive their refunds promptly and securely.

The involvement of various stakeholders in the process underscores the commission’s efforts to uphold integrity and efficiency in managing the affairs of Hajj pilgrims.
