Hajj Terms and Meaning: What is Shatharwaan?

Shatharwaan refers to an area protruding from the foundation of the Ka‘bah, which appears on the walls of the Ka‘bah but not at the Black Stone. It is two-thirds of a cubit high and is also called Ta’zeer because it is like an Izaar (wrap) around the Ka‘bah. Scholars differed about whether it is part of the Ka‘bah or a support for it.
