The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has commended the Kaduna State Pilgrims Welfare Agency for major improvements at its Hajj Transit Camp in Mando, following an inspection visit ahead of the 2026 Hajj.
The NAHCON delegation, led by Commissioner for the North-West Zone, Muhammad Bin Othman, visited the facility on Thursday to assess the level of preparedness for the forthcoming pilgrimage.
Speaking after the inspection, Othman expressed satisfaction with the transformation of the camp, noting consistent progress compared to his previous visits in 2024 and 2025.
He praised the leadership of the agency under Salihu Abubakar, describing the scale of projects executed with internal resources as unprecedented among state pilgrims agencies. He urged other states to emulate Kaduna’s model of initiative and prudent management.
The commissioner also acknowledged the support of Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, calling on other state governments to prioritise the welfare of intending pilgrims through similar backing.
Responding on behalf of the agency, Administrative Secretary, Baba Rufai, attributed the achievements to sustained government support and strong institutional collaboration.
The NAHCON team highlighted key upgrades at the camp, including construction of access roads and culverts, installation of solar-powered streetlights, and development of a modern reception hall, ICT centre and market, alongside general rehabilitation of the facility.
The visit, according to NAHCON, underscores Kaduna State’s growing reputation as a model for Hajj preparation and pilgrims welfare administration in the country.
The statement was signed by the Public Relations Officer of the agency, Ibrahim Datti Makarfi.
