The Ministry of Religious Affairs has taken action against a private Hajj company following allegations of fraud involving an overseas Pakistani citizen, suspending the company’s ID accounts and access to the Pak Hajj mobile application. According to an order issued by the ministry, the private Hajj company will not be allowed to participate in the Hajj 2027 operation. However, the ministry’s spokesperson clarified that the company’s licence has not been completely suspended.
The case concerns overseas Pakistani Adnan Shakoor, who has alleged in a court petition that four individuals Wali Dost, Qeemat Khan, Burhan Ashraf and Waqas Arshad sold him a Hajj company.
According to the petitioner, an agreement regarding the sale of the company was signed between the parties in February last year. He alleged that the accused received payments between February 17 and March 31, promising to provide the original company documents within 10 days of receiving the money.
However, the petitioner claimed that the individuals subsequently refused to hand over the original documents within the agreed timeframe.
He further alleged that the accused, acting in collusion, deprived him of his life savings. The petitioner also claimed that when he demanded the return of his money, the individuals threatened him with serious consequences. According to the petition, despite assurances given on June 24, 2026, the accused later switched off their mobile phone numbers and became unreachable.
Following the allegations, the Ministry of Religious Affairs suspended the company’s ID accounts and blocked its access to the Pak Hajj application, also barring it from participating in the 2027 Hajj operation.
Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Religious Affairs clarified that the company’s licence had not been completely suspended, adding that such a step was not possible while an operation was underway.
The spokesperson said the ministry could impose a fine on the company and subsequently reissue its licence. The ministry’s action comes amid allegations of financial irregularities in the transfer of ownership of a private Hajj company, while the matter remains subject to the relevant legal proceedings.
