The Borno State Hajj Commission has received a high-powered delegation from the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, NAHCON, on a statewide sensitization exercise regarding new policies introduced by the Saudi Arabian authorities for the conduct of Hajj operations.
The new arrangement marks a shift from the traditional Government-to-Government model* to a more business-oriented Business-to-Business, B2B approach* in the provision and management of Hajj services.
The #NAHCON delegation was led by Commissioner Abba Jato and was received in Maiduguri by the Chairman of the #Borno State Hajj Commission, Professor Yakubu Yunusa Musa along with members of the Commission.
During the engagement, the delegation explained the implications of the new Saudi policies and emphasized the need for states and relevant Hajj authorities to ensure full compliance with the requirements ahead of the forthcoming Hajj exercise.
The Chairman, Professor Yakubu Yunusa Musa, used the opportunity to highlight the peculiar position of Borno State and the growing demand for pilgrimage among its citizens. He appealed for an additional allocation of Hajj seats for the state.
Also present were Dr. Mohammed Mustapha, Secretary of #NAHCON, Modu Ali Ahmed, Secretary of Borno State Hajj Commission, and Haruna Mari, Permanent Member. They commended the delegation and assured that intending pilgrims would be sensitized on the new policies to ensure a hitch-free Hajj exercise.
The delegation later proceeded to the office of the Deputy Governor, Umar Usman Kadafur, to brief him on the new Saudi policies and the outcome of the sensitization exercise.
The Deputy Governor assured the team of the Borno State Government’s support and commitment toward meeting all requirements and complying with the new Hajj operational policies.
He also called for greater synergy between NAHCON and State Governments to achieve a successful Hajj.
