The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) and licensed tour operators have moved to resolve ongoing disagreements over the selection of service providers for the 2026 Hajj.

The two parties met virtually on Sunday night, October 12, 2025, following an earlier inconclusive meeting that ended without consensus on which companies to engage for pilgrims’ services.

During the session, NAHCON’s Commissioner of Operations, Prince Anofiu Elegushi, announced that a neutral company would be introduced to ensure fairness and transparency in the process.

He directed that all ten lead companies and the existing committee previously tasked with deliberations should immediately hold consultations with the neutral firm to determine suitable packages and costs in the collective interest of all operators.

Elegushi emphasized that the operators must take ownership of the discussions and decisions, noting that the intervention became necessary due to time constraints. He urged unity and cooperation within the industry to avoid further delays.

Participants commended the Commissioner’s intervention, describing it as a timely and mature step toward restoring confidence and ensuring harmony in the selection process.
