Some Nigerian pilgrims from Kwara, Ondo and Ekiti states have expressed frustration over the delay in the distribution of Zamzam water, eight days after returning from the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage.
The affected pilgrims, who were transported by Max Air, alleged that they were instructed not to carry Zamzam water in their luggage and were assured that each pilgrim would receive a five-litre container upon arrival in Nigeria.
However, they said the promised water had yet to be delivered to the Ilorin zone, covering Kwara, Ondo and Ekiti states.
One of the pilgrims, who appealed for intervention, described the situation as disappointing and unacceptable.
“We were clearly instructed not to carry Zamzam water in our luggage, with the assurance that five litres of Zamzam water would be provided to us upon arrival. Unfortunately, up till now, we have not received the promised Zamzam water,” the pilgrim said.
The pilgrims noted that the delay had left them without Zamzam water to share with family members, friends and visitors who traditionally expect gifts from returning Hajj pilgrims.
They called on the relevant authorities and Max Air to urgently address the situation and ensure the distribution of the water.
