Indonesia – President Prabowo Subianto reportedly intended to build a special village for Indonesian Hajj and Umrah pilgrims in Saudi Arabia to centralize their worship activities.

This was conveyed by the head of the Hajj Organizing Agency, Moch Irfan Yusuf, whom Prabowo inaugurated together with four other heads of special agencies at the State Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday, Antara reported.

“The president hopes that Indonesia can have a Hajj village in Saudi Arabia. All activities of Indonesian Hajj and Umrah pilgrims can be centralized in one place,” Yusuf said in a press statement at the presidential palace on Tuesday, Oct. 22, Antara reported.

He noted that Prabowo established this agency to fulfill his idea and hope for Hajj organization.

Yusuf noted that apart from the goal of helping Indonesian Hajj pilgrims to travel safely and comfortably, the president is also looking for a central location for Indonesian Hajj and Umrah pilgrims in the Holy Land.

Currently, the agency is still coordinating with the Directorate General of Hajj and Umrah Organizers of the Ministry of Religious Affairs until the implementation of the 2025 Hajj.

Yusuf echoed Prabowo’s hope that the Hajj Organizing Agency would work independently next year.

“In 2025, we will still work with the Hajj Directorate. In 2026, we will work independently,” said Yusuf, who will work with Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak as his deputy.

On Tuesday, Prabowo also appointed seven special presidential envoys and seven special presidential advisers.

A day earlier, the president inaugurated 48 ministers and 55 deputy ministers of the Red and White Cabinet for the period 2024-2029 at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta.
