Ministry of Islamic Affairs introduces fully digital card for new Muslims, linked to Tawakkalna app.

  • Sheikh Dr. Abdullatif Al Alsheikh launched the new digital “New Muslim” card service on Sunday, 26 July 2026
  • The card is issued automatically after approval and appears directly inside the Tawakkalna app
  • A QR code on each card allows instant verification by any authority

Sheikh Dr. Abdullatif Al Alsheikh, Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance, launched the new digital “New Muslim” card service on Sunday, 26 July 2026, at his office in Riyadh.

How the Service Works

The new system takes the entire process online, from the first application to the final issued card. A person who wishes to embrace Islam can now submit their request electronically, and the ministry processes and approves it through the same digital system.

Once approved, the card appears automatically inside the Tawakkalna app. Users can pull it up and share it electronically at any time, since it connects directly with the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA).

Verification Through QR Code

Each card carries a QR code. Scanning it lets any authority check that the card is real and that the Ministry of Islamic Affairs issued it. This gives new Muslims a card they can use immediately, without waiting for a physical copy or paper approval.

The ministry said the project also helps it collect better data on new Muslims, which supports more accurate reports and planning.
