Sokoto PWA to Temporarily
The Sokoto State Pilgrims Welfare Agency (PWA) has announced plans to temporarily relocate its operations to the NAHCON Hajj Transit Camp in Kasarawa following the approval of a total renovation of its headquarters by the Sokoto State Government.
The agency said preparations for the relocation are already underway to allow contractors commence renovation works without delay. The temporary move is aimed at ensuring uninterrupted service delivery, especially as preparations for the 2026 Hajj season have already begun.
In a statement signed by the by Head of Information and Communications, Faruku Umar, the Chairman of the agency, Alhaji Aliyu Musa, disclosed this during an inspection visit to the NAHCON Hajj Transit Camp, where minor renovation works are currently ongoing to make the offices suitable for staff use.
According to him, the agency has decided to rehabilitate and upgrade existing structures at the transit camp to provide a conducive and work-friendly environment throughout the relocation period.
Alhaji Musa said the decision was taken in the best interest of the agency and intending pilgrims, assuring that all statutory responsibilities of the PWA would continue without disruption during the renovation of the headquarters.
He also appealed for the understanding and cooperation of staff and stakeholders, noting that the ongoing renovation would ultimately enhance operational efficiency and improve service delivery.
