The Edo State Muslim Pilgrims Board Chairman, Sheikh Ibrahim Oyarekhua, said that the state has the best and cheapest pilgrims’ accommodation in Makkah for Hajj 2024.
The chairman stated this in a chat with HAJJ REPORTERS on Saturday while reacting to alleged claims that the accommodation housing pilgrims from Edo State is located “in a ghetto area”.
“All other accommodation costs 3,000 Saudi Riyal mine is 2,500, it is the cheapest and I challenged the chairman of NAHCON recently to go round the accommodations, take three from the North, three from the West and take Edo and compare…I can beat my chest and say he cannot find three accommodations that can beat my own.”
Sheikh Ibrahim Oyarekhua expressed his appreciation to the Executive Governor of Edo State His Excellency Godwin Obaseki for his untiring efforts towards the State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board. “Though the Governor is a Christian he has never denied us anything we requested for. The Governor has approved over N45,000 million to cater for Hadaya for the entire pilgrims from Edo state. The money was approved a few days before our departure so we couldn’t access it.
As I am talking to you, the money has been deposited into our account and we will disburse it to the pilgrims as soon as we return to Insha Allah.
On the services in Mashair, the Edo State pilgrims’ boss acknowledged an improvement in services rendered to pilgrims in Mina this year and hopes that the improvements will be sustained by next year.
