Saudi Arabia has officially approved plans for an international airport serving Makkah al-Mukarramah.
RCMC CEO Eng. Saleh Al-Rasheed confirmed that feasibility studies have been completed and strategic directions approved — marking the first time a Makkah airport has ever received official backing. For decades, the idea was rejected. Now it’s officially in motion.
The airport will serve residents, Hajj pilgrims, and Umrah visitors — while ensuring King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah is not economically affected. No construction timeline or official site has been confirmed yet.
