The Plateau State Government has donated free Ihram to all intending pilgrims for the 2026 Hajj, as part of efforts to support their participation in the pilgrimage.
This was contained in a statement made available to the press by the Board’s Head of Information Unit, Hajiya Amina Hamisu Isma’il, on Monday.
The Executive Secretary of the Plateau State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Daiyabu Dauda, disclosed this during the flag-off of the distribution of hand luggage and uniforms to pilgrims in Jos.
He said the gesture, which covers 1,134 pilgrims, reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring a smooth Hajj exercise.
“The donation of free Ihram to all our intending pilgrims underscores the government’s dedication to their welfare and successful participation in the Hajj,” Dauda said.
He added that the distribution exercise, which commenced on April 13, would continue with other activities scheduled for the following day.
Dauda commended the Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, for his sustained support to the board.
“We are grateful to the governor for his continuous support and commitment to the welfare of our pilgrims and the smooth conduct of Hajj operations,” he said.
