KANO PILGRIMS BOARD BOSS RECEIVES AWARD FROM NIGERIAN IMMIGRATION SERVICE

The Director General of the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Matawalle, has received an Award of Commendation from the Nigerian Immigration Service, Malam Aminu Kano International Airport Command.

In his response, Alhaji Matawalle expressed appreciation for the recognition and reiterated his commitment to strengthening collaboration with the Nigerian Immigration Service to ensure smooth and successful Hajj operations.

Earlier, the Comptroller of the Nigerian Immigration Service at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport Command, Mr. Issa Adebayo Olaniyan, stated that the visit to the Pilgrims Welfare Board was aimed at enhancing coordination and collaboration ahead of the 2026 Hajj operations. He noted that the award was in recognition of the Director General’s effective planning and arrangements for the forthcoming exercise.

In a related development, the leadership of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), led by its Executive Secretary, Alhaji Isyaku Abdullahi Kubarachi, paid a courtesy visit to the Board. The delegation highlighted key areas where the agency would contribute to the success of the Hajj exercise.

Alhaji Abubakar Matawalle assured the agency of its inclusion, promising to appoint a focal person from SEMA to the Joint Hajj Security Committee to enhance safety coordination during the exercise.

Additionally, representatives from Max Air, led by Mr. Oumo Remos, visited the Board to discuss matters relating to the airlift timeline and flight schedules. Mr. Remos advised intending pilgrims to avoid carrying excess luggage beyond the approved limits.

The Director General emphasized that the Board would not tolerate unnecessary delays from air carriers during this year’s Hajj operations.

He concluded by praying for the safety and successful pilgrimage of all intending pilgrims from the state.
