Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) to jointly develop and deliver a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Hajj Operations Management.
The agreement, signed on Friday at the Hajj House in Abuja, will be implemented through the ABU Distance Learning Centre and the NAHCON Hajj Institute of Nigeria (HIN).
According to a statement by ABU’s Director of Public Affairs, Auwalu Umar, the partnership aims to establish a framework for planning, delivering and continuously improving hajj operations and management.
Under the agreement, ABU will oversee the academic component of the programme, including accreditation, admissions, examinations and the award of the MBA degree, while NAHCON will provide technical expertise, facilitate practical training, internships and nominate qualified practitioners as adjunct lecturers.
The MoU also covers joint curriculum development, specialised hajj and umrah courses, research, executive education and international collaboration.
The Vice-Chancellor of ABU, Prof. Adamu Ahmed, signed on behalf of the university, while the Chairman of NAHCON, Ambassador Ismail Abba Yusuf, signed for the commission in the presence of senior officials from both institutions.
