The Federal Government has condemned a reported Houthi militia attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, which allegedly killed 12 civilians and injured more than 300 others.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the October 10 incident as a dangerous escalation that threatened civilian lives, violated Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty and undermined efforts to promote peace and stability in the Middle East.
The statement, signed by the ministry’s spokesperson, Oluwafemi Adeniyi, called on all parties to respect international law, exercise restraint and avoid further actions capable of escalating tensions or endangering civilians.
Nigeria expressed solidarity with the Saudi government and people, extended condolences to the families of those killed and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
The government also commended Saudi Arabia’s emergency response and reaffirmed its support for diplomatic initiatives and dialogue to de-escalate tensions, protect civilians and safeguard critical infrastructure in the region.
