The Sokoto State Pilgrims Welfare Agency has announced the completion of renovation works at the Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko Hajj Terminal, located at the Sultan Abubakar III International Airport, in readiness for the airlift of 2025 pilgrims beginning May 9.
In a press statement signed by Faruku Umar, Head of Information and Communications of the agency, the terminal has undergone a full facelift aimed at improving convenience, safety, and service delivery to pilgrims.
Chairman of the agency, Alhaji Aliyu Musa, led a comprehensive inspection of the terminal’s facilities on Thursday. The team reviewed key areas including the toilets, reception areas, VIP lounge, and security counters, ensuring they meet operational and hygiene standards. The inspection was conducted in the presence of Airport Manager Alhaji Nasiru Isiyaka and his team.
Alhaji Musa reaffirmed the agency’s earlier commitment to ensuring the terminal was fully prepared ahead of the airlift. “We have fulfilled our promise of making the terminal habitable and ready to serve our pilgrims efficiently,” he said.
He was accompanied by top officials of the agency, including Acting Executive Secretary Alhaji Ladan Ibrahim, Director of Operations Alhaji Abubakar Chika, and Director of Finance Alhaji Nasiru Abubakar.
The prompt and thorough preparations underscore the agency’s dedication to providing Sokoto pilgrims with a smooth, safe, and spiritually uplifting Hajj journey.
