Group Demands Hajj Board Accountability, Urges Presidential Probe

The Progressive Muslims Forum (PMF) has called on the Ghana Hajj Board to immediately publish a detailed report on the financial and logistical operations of the 2025 Hajj.

The group is demanding a full breakdown of Hajj fares, revenue and expenditure records, as well as all contractual and logistical arrangements. Citing both Islamic teachings and Ghana’s Financial Administration Act of 2003, PMF emphasized that transparency is both a legal and religious obligation.

Despite repeated calls since 2019, the forum said successive Hajj Boards have failed to disclose financial records, a situation it claims has encouraged corruption and inefficiency in the management of Ghanaian pilgrims.

The group also urged President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to establish a Commission of Inquiry to investigate the operations of past and present Hajj Boards and recommend reforms.

PMF warned that if the necessary documents are not released voluntarily, it will invoke the Right to Information (RTI) Act and seek legal redress through the courts.
