Hajj 2025: CSO Commends NAHCON, Airlines, State Boards for Smooth Operations

The Independent Hajj Reporters (IHR), a faith-based civil society organization, has lauded the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), State Pilgrims Welfare Boards, airlines, and Saudi-based service providers for the successful airlift and reception of Nigerian pilgrims for the 2025 Hajj exercise.

In a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Ibrahim Muhammed, IHR said that over 21,000 pilgrims have been airlifted to Saudi Arabia with minimal hitches. It praised stakeholders for their commitment and efficiency in facilitating a seamless travel process, particularly noting that nearly all pilgrims—except 547 from Kano—have been successfully routed through Madinah.

“We are impressed by the coordination across all levels from visa processing and flight schedules to pilgrims’ reception and accommodation in Madinah,” the statement read. IHR also acknowledged the performance of NAHCON’s advance team and the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah for removing past bottlenecks in visa issuance.

However, the group urged all stakeholders to sustain the momentum as the pilgrims transition from Madinah to Makkah, where services like feeding and accommodation will undergo greater scrutiny due to the longer stay. It also called on private tour operators preparing for departure to emulate the efficient model witnessed so far.

IHR concluded by reminding authorities that critical operations begin on the 8th of Dhul Hijja with the movement to Mashair, emphasizing the need for improved arrangements in Mina, especially concerning feeding and bed space.
