In Jeddah, Indian Ambassador Vipul met with Abdul Fattah bin Sulaiman Al-Mashat, the Saudi Deputy Minister for Hajj and Umrah, to review preparations for Hajj 2027 on Sunday. The discussion focused on maintaining ongoing coordination between the Indian Hajj Mission and the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.
The Indian consulate in Jeddah shared updates on social media, noting that Ambassador Vipul was accompanied by Consul Fahad Suri and Consul (Hajj) Sadaf Chaudhary. The delegation also held discussions with senior officials from the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.
During the meeting, they conducted a comprehensive review of the preparations for Hajj 2027. They emphasized the importance of continued close coordination between the Indian Hajj Mission and the Saudi ministry as the event approaches.
As part of the preparations, Ambassador Vipul visited the Hajj terminal at Jeddah Airport and the Haramain High-Speed Railway Station. He assessed the facilities, infrastructure, and operational arrangements at both sites, gathering information from relevant officials regarding the upcoming Hajj.
According to the consulate, over 100,000 Indian pilgrims travel through the Indian Hajj Committee. Therefore, the Hajj terminal in Jeddah and Haramain High-Speed Train services are crucial operational hubs for the arrival and onward journey of Indian devotees.
Preparations for Hajj 2027 have been underway for several months. In August, an Indian delegation held multiple rounds of meetings with Saudi officials.
On August 9, Srivats Krishna, Secretary of the Ministry of Minority Affairs, met with Abdul Aziz Al-Muthami, Deputy Minister for Planning and Digital Transformation at the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah. They discussed the technical integration of the Indian and Saudi Hajj portals.
