Kano Govt appropriates ₦149m for Operational Expenditure for 2026 Hajj

The Kano State Executive Council has approved the sum of ₦149,293,520.24 to support local expenditure for the 2026 Hajj operations of the State Pilgrims Welfare Board.

The approval was reached during the 33rd Executive Council Meeting held at Government House, Kano.

Addressing journalists shortly after the meeting, the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya stated that the funds are meant to ensure effective planning and smooth coordination of pilgrims’ activities ahead of the forthcoming Hajj exercise.

He explained that the expenditure would cover essential logistics, administrative preparations, and other operational needs required to facilitate the journey of intending pilgrims from Kano to the holy land.

The Commissioner emphasized the commitment of the present administration to supporting religious activities, especially those that promote moral development and spiritual upliftment in the state.

He assured that the government will continue to work closely with the Pilgrims Welfare Board to ensure that Kano pilgrims receive proper guidance, welfare, and representation before, during, and after the Hajj.
