.The Ministry of Religious Affairs has begun distributing dates from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the public ahead of Ramadan.
The Secretary General of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Kamaruddin, stated on Friday (2/21), “These dates are a grant from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Indonesian people through the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
The Ministry will distribute them proportionally to various entities in Indonesian society, including large mosques such as Istiqlal and several other mosques.
He also emphasized that these dates are intended for the entire community without any special criteria and expressed hope that this assistance would bring blessings.
A representative of the Indonesian Mosque Council (DMI), Didi Cahyadi, explained, the distribution mechanism will be carried out through the head office and then forwarded to each region for further distribution to mosques in the vicinity.
Previously, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia distributed 100 tons of dates, which were symbolically handed over by the Saudi Ambassador to Indonesia, Faisal Abdullah H. Amodi, and received by the Minister of Religious Affairs (Menag), Nasaruddin Umar, on February 14.
