Letter from Umrah pilgrim: Exploitation of pilgrims continues

by admin

We are currently performing Umrah. My wife and I paid RM8, 000 plus for each person to a well established umrah agency in Kuala Lumpur.

We, however, did not enjoy what was promised us in our document.

We paid for Umrah ahead but were shocked to find out that our visas were not Umrah visas but instead were tourist visas.

Our flight by Saudi Air was supposed to be a direct flight to Madinah but instead it was a long journey to Riyadh and then to Madinah. It felt like a budget flight.

Then, instead of being put at the Nozol Holiday Inn in Madinah, we were put in a budget hotel serving food that was unacceptable. Five days without decent food.

There were many Malaysians with us who had paid but did not receive what was promised to them as well.

At the time of writing, we are at the Hilton Double Tree, Makkah. Our Umrah agency provides us the same breakfast food for lunch while people from Indonesia enjoyed buffet, not catered sub-standard food.

The government needs to act because people are being conned and exploited. We are being made victims to cover up for their losses.

While all these are happening, imagine what is going to take place during Haj?

Pilgrims are being conned with religious jargon about being patient when in fact they are being cheated.
