NAHCON Inspectors visit Adamawa Pilgrims’ accommodation, Denies Claims of Homeless Pilgrims in Makkah

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has dismissed reports circulating online alleging that some Adamawa State pilgrims were left without accommodation for two days in Makkah during the 2026 Hajj exercise.

In a statement issued by the commission’s management, NAHCON said an investigative team was immediately sent to verify the claim after a video surfaced online.

According to the commission, findings showed that the pilgrims arrived in Makkah late on May 13, while room allocation was still ongoing. It explained that some pilgrims went to Masjid al-Haram to perform Umrah during the process, leading to confusion as some of them were unaware that rooms had already been assigned to them.

NAHCON said officials later completed the accommodation process upon the pilgrims’ return, stressing that all affected pilgrims had since been properly accommodated.

The commission added that the video was recorded during the allocation process and created a misleading impression of the situation.

NAHCON urged pilgrims and officials to verify information with state pilgrims welfare boards or the commission before sharing unverified reports, reaffirming its commitment to the welfare of Nigerian pilgrims in Saudi Arabia.
