NAHCON Orders Probe of Tour Operators Over Excess Pilgrims

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has ordered an investigation into tour operators accused of bringing more pilgrims to Saudi Arabia than the number officially registered for the 2026 Hajj.

NAHCON Chairman, Ambassador Ismail Abba Yusuf, directed the Central Security Committee to identify operators allegedly exploiting pilgrims through the practice.

The commission warned that any operator found guilty after investigations would face sanctions, including withdrawal of operating licences.

NAHCON also disclosed that arrangements had commenced for refunds to pilgrims affected by the rejection of some meals that failed to meet Saudi food safety standards.

The commission appreciated the understanding of pilgrims and reaffirmed its commitment to their welfare throughout the Hajj exercise.
