Hajj 2026: Overcrowding, Heat Dampen Experience for Bangladesh Pilgrims in Mina Tent Camps

by admin

Dissatisfaction has trailed the 2026 Hajj as many Bangladeshi pilgrims, alongside worshippers from other countries, raised concerns over severe overcrowding, cramped sleeping conditions and extreme heat inside the Mina tent camps.

Bangladesh Pilgrims in standard and economy packages reported that tents were packed beyond their intended capacity, leaving minimal personal space for rest. Similar complaints were also recorded among pilgrims accommodated in “D” category spaces, where physical space constraints were said to be more pronounced.

To ease pressure on the densely populated camps, the Bangladesh Hajj Mission and Saudi authorities enforced strict restrictions on luggage, banning trolley bags, hand-carry suitcases and excess items, limiting pilgrims to a single piece of luggage.

Some camps also struggled with cooling systems, as air-conditioning units reportedly found it difficult to regulate temperatures in overcrowded tents, further worsening discomfort.

Although Bangladesh reduced portions of its government Hajj packages for 2026 to manage quota adjustments, the structural limitations of the Mina tent city—where millions of pilgrims converge annually—continue to present enduring space and comfort challenges.
