A National Assembly delegation overseeing the activities of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has commended the commission for the services provided to Nigerian pilgrims during the 2026 Hajj in Mina, Saudi Arabia.

The delegation, led by Senator Ali Ndume, inspected Nigerian pilgrims’ tents as part of its oversight responsibilities to assess the quality of services rendered during the Hajj exercise.

During the visit, the lawmakers interacted with pilgrims and state officials, who expressed satisfaction with accommodation and feeding arrangements provided by NAHCON.

Some pilgrims, however, appealed for a wider variety of Nigerian local dishes in future operations, noting that many elderly pilgrims found it difficult adjusting to some of the meals served.

They also called for additional toilet facilities in the camps to reduce congestion and improve sanitation.

The pilgrims commended President Bola Tinubu for supporting the successful conduct of the Hajj exercise and appreciated the lawmakers for visiting to assess their welfare firsthand.

Speaking during the inspection, Ndume urged the pilgrims to continue praying for peace, security and prosperity in Nigeria.

He assured them that all observations and concerns raised during the visit would be documented and considered in the committee’s oversight report.

Also speaking, Chairman of the House Committee on Hajj and Umrah, Honourable Ja’afar Mohammed, reaffirmed the commitment of the National Assembly and the federal government to improving the welfare of Nigerian pilgrims.

He encouraged the pilgrims to continue praying for the unity and progress of the country.
