The Yobe State Pilgrims Commission has established three sensitisation committees, one for each senatorial district, to raise public awareness and encourage early registration of prospective pilgrims for the 2027 Hajj.
The committees, led by the Commission’s Executive Chairman, Alhaji Mai Aliyu Usman, began a statewide sensitisation tour to educate prospective pilgrims on the registration process and other important requirements for the upcoming pilgrimage.
During the tour, the committees announced that the initial deposit for the 2027 Hajj has been fixed at ₦7.5 million, with only two months until the registration deadline. They explained that the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have set September 25, 2026 as the final date for the registration of intending pilgrims worldwide.
The Commission urged all prospective pilgrims to register as soon as possible so that they do not miss the deadline.
The committees also stated that all Hajj payments must be made through approved channels, which include designated desk officers at the Commission’s headquarters and authorised Local Government Hajj fare collectors. They warned the public not to give money to unauthorized individuals claiming to facilitate Hajj registration, noting that anyone involved in such fraudulent activities would face appropriate legal action.
The sensitization teams also urged the 17 Local Government Chairmen, traditional rulers, Islamic scholars, and community leaders to help the awareness campaign by encouraging eligible Muslims to register early.
They noted that the final Hajj fare for 2027 may vary from that of 2026, urging intending pilgrims to await the official announcement by the relevant Sa.
udi authorities.
In addition, the Executive Chairman advised intending pilgrims whose international passports are close to expiration to renew them promptly to prevent delays in visa processing.
The committees equally urged zonal officers to remain vigilant, ensure all allocated Hajj slots are filled, and sustain public sensitisation efforts until the registration deadline.
The Commission expressed profound appreciation to the Executive Governor of Yobe State, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, CON, for his unwavering support and commitment, which has continued to enhance the successful conduct of Hajj operations in the state.
