The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Abuja is to complete the airlift of this year’s pilgrims back home on Monday 8/07/2024 after the Hajj exercise.
The Director of the Board, Mallam Abubakar Adamu Evuti who disclosed this in an interview in Makkah, kingdom of Saudi Arabia, said that the last flight of FCT contingent for this year’s hajj is scheduled to depart King Abdulaziz International Airport, Jeddah at 9:00 pm Saudi Arabian time on Monday.
According to the Director, the Pilgrims are expected to leave the shore of the kingdom of Saudi Arabia aboard Air Peace airline flight number APK 7933 with about 285 pilgrims and are expected to land at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja early hours of Tuesday 9/07/24.
Mallam Evuti explained that the Board commenced the return leg of the airlift on 22/6/24 aboard APK 7901 which landed Abuja International airport with a total of 309 FCT pilgrims after the exercise.
He explained that the Board was able to returned the pilgrims in nine different flights after successful hajj exercise through the official airline allocated to transport the FCT pilgrims.
The Director disclosed on a sad note the demise of one of the male pilgrims who died on the Arafat day in one of the hospitals in Muna after a brief illness.
The male pilgrim who haill from Kogi state and registered for the hajj through Kwali area council of the territory has seen been buried.
He stated that the family of the deceased has since been informed about the incident and pray for the soul of the departed and the family the fortitude to bear the loss.
Abubakar Evuti also expressed the Board’s profound appreciation to the FCT Administration under the able leadership of the Hon. Minister, Barr. Nyesom Wike and Hon. Minister of State, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud for their support toward the success of the operation.
