Hajj 2026: Saudi Arabia warns against late preparation as NAHCON meet MOHU

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) on Monday held a virtual meeting with the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah to review preparations for the 2026 Hajj exercise.

The session, chaired by Dr. Rania Adham of the Saudi Ministry, reiterated key deadlines, including signing of the Memorandum of Understanding in November, January 4 for camp booking payments and service contract confirmations, and February 1 for uploading transport and accommodation contracts on the Nusuk Masar portal. The Saudi authorities also restated that Shawwal 1 remains the strict deadline for visa issuance.

They cautioned against late preparations, warning that delays could affect pilgrims’ welfare. Intending pilgrims were also reminded that performing Hajj without a Hajj visa attracts a penalty of 20,000 Saudi Riyals (about N8.1 million) and possible imprisonment.

The Saudis further stressed that all Hadaya payments and accommodation bookings must be processed exclusively through the Nusuk Masar platform.

NAHCON assured of full compliance with the directives, pledging to work with stakeholders to ensure a smooth and well-coordinated 2026 Hajj operation.
