Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, on Wednesday received the final report on the 2024 Hajj exercise during the State Executive Council meeting at Government House Annex, Kwankwasiyya City.

In a statement by his spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the governor pledged to carefully study the report’s recommendations to address identified challenges ahead of the 2025 Hajj. He praised the Emir of Karaye, Alhaji Muhammad Mahmoud Maharaza, for his integrity and leadership as head of the Hajj Delegation Committee.

Yusuf also commended the Pilgrims Welfare Board, its staff, local government centre officers, and other committee members for their roles in what he described as successful operations. He prayed for the repose of two Kano pilgrims who died during the exercise and urged prayers for the safe recovery of a missing pilgrim.

Earlier, Deputy Governor Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo said the report was designed to guide future improvements, noting that recent Hajj operations under the current administration were highly rated by pilgrims. The Emir of Karaye revealed that the report was in two volumes, covering both the board and the delegation’s activities.

Awards were also presented to Governor Yusuf in recognition of Kano’s achievements in transportation, feeding, accommodation, and welfare of pilgrims.
