Concerns have been raised over the management of Hajj operations in Katsina State, with calls on Governor Dikko Umaru Radda to urgently reshuffle the leadership of the State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board.
In a commentary, AbdulRahman Yusuf alleged that the board under its current Executive Director, Alhaji Yunusa Abdullahi Dankama, has struggled to manage the complex demands of Hajj operations. He cited the state’s relegation to the last flight schedule in 2025 and poor coordination of pilgrim accommodations as signs of weak leadership.
Yusuf further claimed that the Executive Director rarely attends meetings convened by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), undermining effective representation of the state.
In an email sent to Hajj Reporters, Yusuf said the board has recorded abysmal performance since the current head assumed office and cited a lack of proper coordination during the last two operations.
