The Sokoto State Pilgrims Welfare Agency (PWA) has cautioned Hajj registration officers against enrolling individuals of questionable character or citizens from neighbouring countries who are not Nigerians.

Chairman of the agency, Alhaji Aliyu Musa, gave the warning during a meeting with registration officers from the 23 local government areas of the state, where allocations of Hajj slots were distributed.

Musa reminded intending pilgrims that the deadline for payment of 2026 Hajj fares in Sokoto is December 25, 2025, in line with the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria’s (NAHCON) national deadline of December 29, 2025.

He urged prospective pilgrims to complete payments early to enable smooth processing and timely arrangements for the exercise.

The chairman assured that the agency remains committed to transparency and integrity in the management of the Hajj process while prioritising the welfare and spiritual fulfilment of genuine pilgrims.
