The Bauchi State Pilgrims Welfare Board has launched an intensive market-to-market campaign to boost mobilisation and deposit collection ahead of the 2026 Hajj.
The sensitisation drive, led by Imam Abdulrahman Ibrahim Idris with field coordination by Mallam Daiyabu Mohamed, is structured across the state’s three geopolitical zones North, Central and South targeting major markets on their designated market days.
The Board is urging intending pilgrims to pay a minimum deposit of ₦4 million toward the pegged Hajj fare of ₦8,244,813.67, while awaiting a national review of the final cost. Officials said the campaign aims to secure more Hajj slots for the state and ensure early compliance with financial requirements.
The outreach includes mosque announcements, stakeholder meetings, train-the-trainer sessions, documentation support and verification of payments. Portable registration desks are being set up in market centres, with SMS confirmations issued to depositors.
The Board also plans to deploy local trainers in each market to assist with forms and follow-ups, while encouraging the use of mobile-payment options to reduce cash risks.
Community leaders and market associations are being engaged to support the process, while missing market schedules in some towns are being confirmed.
Officials said the campaign is designed to improve transparency, strengthen data collection and ensure Bauchi meets all deadlines for the 2026 Hajj operations.
