The Federal Capital Territory Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board expressed appreciation to the Independent Hajj Reporters’ (IHR) for recognising it as the Best State Pilgrim Board in Pilgrims’ Accommodation in the Holy City of Makkah, during the last Hajj exercise.
The Annual Hajj Lecture and Award ceremony, was held at the Abuja National Mosque Auditorium on Thursday 20th August, 2026.
Malam Kadiri, the Director of the Board, dedicated the award to the FCT Administration’s commitment to laudable infrastructural development, and citizen centred initiatives under the leaderships of the FCT Minister, His Excellency Nyesom Wike and the Honorable Minister of State, Hajiya (Dr) Mariya Mahmoud, across the entire Territory.
Director Kadiri, further, reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to the welfare of the FCT pilgrims through; provision of standard and befitting accommodations close to the holy Haram in Makkah, timely airlifting, good quality meals, amongst others.
It can be recalled that over 1,530 FCT pilgrims performed the 2026 Hajj. The pilgrims were lodged in five standard pilgrims’ hotels, two within the vicinity of the holy Haram, while the remaining three, around the Misfilah Zone, which also close to the Haram, all in Makkah City.
Meanwhile, a former Staff of the Board, Malam Abubakar Haruna, alongside two ad-hoc Islamic preachers attached to the Board, Sheikh Muhammad Tajuddeen Adigun and Sheikh Muhammad Nuru Khalid, also got separate awards for their contributions on the pilgrims’ enlightenment and guidance during the last Hajj exercise.
