Bangladesh announces 2027 Hajj packages, cuts airfare

Bangladesh on Tuesday (July 21) announced three base packages for the 2027 Hajj — two under government management and a standard package for pilgrims travelling through private agencies — after reducing the airfare to Tk1,30,000.
Private Hajj agencies will be allowed to offer up to three additional packages besides the government-approved standard private package, Religious Affairs Minister Kazi Shah Mofazzal Hossain Kaikobad said.
The minister announced the packages at a press briefing at the Ministry of Religious Affairs’ conference room in the Bangladesh Secretariat on July 21. The packages were approved by the executive committee on Hajj management.
Under government management, Hajj Package-1 will cost Tk615,263, while Hajj Package-2, described as the affordable option, has been set at Tk5,05,648.
Pilgrims choosing Package-1 will be accommodated between 1,000 and 1,400 metres from the outer courtyard of the Grand Mosque in Makkah and in the Markazia area of Madinah. They will stay in Zone 2 tents in Mina and receive services in Mina and Arafat under Service Package-3, with meals supplied through the moallem.
Under Package-2, pilgrims will be accommodated between two and three kilometres from the Grand Mosque in Makkah and within 800 metres of the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah, outside the Markazia area. Tents will be provided in Zone 5 in Mina, while services and meals in Mina and Arafat will also be arranged under Service Package-3.
The standard package for pilgrims travelling through private agencies will cost Tk5,13,648. It will provide accommodation within three kilometres of the Grand Mosque in Makkah and within one kilometre of the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah.
Under the private package, no more than six pilgrims may share a room. Pilgrims will be accommodated in Zone 5 tents in Mina and receive services and meals in Mina and Arafat under Service Package-3.
Kaikobad said eligible listed agencies would be required to form groups in line with the minimum quota set by Saudi authorities before registration begins. Although the standard private package will be mandatory, agencies within a group may offer up to three additional packages through mutual coordination.
However, no private package may offer fewer services or facilities than those included in the government’s Package-2, the minister said.
Kaikobad said the airfare had been reduced by Tk24,830 from the previous year to Tk1,30,000 at the initiative of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. He said the reduction would ease some of the financial burden on pilgrims.
The minister said changes had been made to accommodation, transport, catering and other services because of new arrangements introduced by Saudi Arabia for the 2027 Hajj.
There will be three service packages in Mina and Arafat in 2027, instead of the four offered in 2026. The previous Service Package-D will no longer be available.
Registration for the 2027 Hajj is scheduled to close on September 26, 2026. Pilgrims will be able to select their packages and complete preliminary and final registration through the e-Hajj system.
Hajj flights are scheduled to begin on April 8, 2027, while Hajj is expected to be observed on May 15, subject to the sighting of the moon.
