Makkah, the country of faith
Makkah Al-Mukarramah is situated in the western region of the Kingdom. It serves as a central destination for Muslims worldwide and is home to the Holy Kaaba and the Grand Mosque. The city’s unique geography features rugged mountains and sandy landscapes, with notable landmarks such as Jabal Al-Nour and Jabal Al-Thour.
Makkah’s notable geographic position is approximately 120 kilometers from Taif, 72 kilometers from Jeddah, and 74 kilometers from the nearest airport.
Information about the Haram Area
The area is called “the Haram” because actions that may be permissible elsewhere are forbidden in Makkah Al-Mukarramah.
This sacred sanctuary was chosen by Allah and designated as a holy place. As the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, “It is not permissible for anyone to shed blood, cut down trees, hunt, relieve themselves in open places, or pick up lost items except to help find their owner.” Only Muslims are allowed to enter the Sacred Area.
Fighting is prohibited, as is cutting down trees or hunting. Muslims must respect its sanctity and greatness, diligently performing good deeds within its boundaries.
