No exemptions for elderly, B40 from RM15,000 haj savings requirement, says Tabung Haji
KUALA LUMPUR: There will be no exemptions for senior citizens, B40 group or depositors nearing their turn to perform the haj from the RM15,000 minimum savings requirement to retain their place in the haj queue.
In a response to Berita Harian, Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) said the requirement currently applies to all depositors regardless of age, income group or position in the haj queue.
However, the requirement will not take effect immediately as existing depositors are given a transition period until Dec 31, 2028, to gradually build their savings to RM15,000.
“At present, there are no specific exemptions based on age, income group or position in the queue.
“The RM15,000 minimum savings requirement applies to all depositors who wish to retain their eligibility in the haj queue,” TH responded.
