Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has approved the appointment of seven persons into various positions in the state.
Among the new appointees is renowned Islamic scholar and leader of the Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’a Wa Iqamatus Sunnah (JIBWIS), Sheikh Dr Nasiru Abdulrahman Funtua, who has been appointed Chairman of the Katsina State Pilgrims Welfare Board.
Dr Funtua replaces Alhaji Kabir Bature Sarkin Alhazai, who resigned as chairman of the board last week.
Sarkin Alhazai was appointed chairman of the Katsina State Pilgrims Welfare Board by Governor Radda in 2023.
In a letter addressed to the Secretary to the Katsina State Government, Sarkin Alhazai announced his resignation but did not state a reason for his decision.
He, however, thanked Governor Radda for the opportunity to serve the state, saying his tenure on the board enabled him to contribute to public service.
Dr Funtua’s appointment comes as the state prepares for another phase of Hajj administration, with the pilgrims’ welfare board responsible for coordinating the state’s pilgrims and related Hajj arrangements.
