Hajj Ministry to Refund Over 115 million Afghanis to Hajj Pilgrims
The ministry reported that this year, over 8.278 billion Afghanis were collected from 30,000 Afghan pilgrims during the Hajj.
The Ministry of Hajj and Religious Affairs announced the start of the process to return the remaining funds of Hajj pilgrims, stating that this process will begin on Wednesday, and each pilgrim will be refunded 3,936 Afghanis.
The ministry reported that this year, over 8.278 billion Afghanis were collected from 30,000 Afghan pilgrims during the Hajj.
Noor Mohammad Saqib, the acting minister, said: “A total of 8,278,772,320 Afghanis was collected from the respected pilgrims.”
He further stated that from the total amount, 115,464,782.41 Afghanis remain with the ministry.
Saqib added: “After accurate calculations, the Ministry of Hajj and Religious Affairs will refund 3,935.81 Afghanis to each pilgrim.”
Meanwhile, the Director General of Hajj, Umrah, and Pilgrimages reported that the number of casualties among pilgrims was low this year, with eighteen Afghans dying during the pilgrimage, two to three of whom died due to accidents.
Mohammad Nabi Mohammadi, Director General of Hajj, Umrah, and Pilgrimages, said: “During the process, 18 Afghan pilgrims passed away, most of them due to natural causes, and two or three due to accidents.”
This comes as, similar to previous years, the quota for Afghan pilgrims remained at 30,000.
