Avoid ‘middlemen’, Register via Pilgrims Registration Officers Only, Kaduna advise intending pilgrims

The Kaduna State Pilgrims Welfare Agency (KSPWA) has advised intending pilgrims in the state to avoid dealing with touts and middlemen while trying to register for next year’s hajj. Instead, the Agency encourages direct registration with designated registration officers stationed across the 23 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the state.

Malam Salihu S. Abubakar, the Executive Chairman of the Agency, emphasized this during a live phone-in radio program called “Dabarzarku” on KSMC Radio Kaduna. He assured intending pilgrims that the Agency has taken proactive measures to protect their interests and prevent any form of exploitation during Hajj deposit payments.

Malam Salihu said that the Agency has introduced a key measure by providing customized teller slips with the bank name and account number of the agency to avoid cash transactions with agency officials.

He emphasized that agency officials are strictly prohibited from accepting cash. ‘Their role is solely to guide eligible individuals through the registration process and issue them with appropriate bank tellers’, said Malam Salihu.

The Chairman also reiterated the deadline for Hajj deposit payments as December 31st, 2023, and urged intending pilgrims from Kaduna State to complete their registration to avoid missing out on the opportunity. He expressed confidence in achieving a smooth Hajj exercise next year and hopes to fill all seats allocated to Kaduna State.
