Saudi Arabia has suspended entry for citizens of the DRC, Uganda and South Sudan and stopped issuing visas to travellers from all three countries, including Umrah pilgrims.
The restrictions come amid an active Ebola outbreak in the region, with Saudi Arabia citing public health and pilgrim safety concerns.
The ban also applies to anyone who passed through those countries in the 21 days before arriving in Saudi Arabia. Travellers from nearby countries — Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania and the Republic of Congo — face stricter health checks at entry points. No Ebola cases have been recorded inside Saudi Arabia.
