A 75-year-old female pilgrim from Edo State, Adizatu Dazumi, has died in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, during the ongoing 2025 Hajj exercise.
Dazumi, who hailed from Jattu Uzairue in Etsako West Local Government Area, passed away on Monday, May 26, at King Fahad General Hospital after a brief illness.
According to the Chairman of the Edo State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Musa Uduimoh, the pilgrim took ill shortly after performing tawaf (the circumambulation of the Kaaba) and was admitted to the hospital on Sunday. She died the following day and was buried the same day in accordance with Islamic rites.
The board has informed her family of the incident and extended its condolences. It also reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the welfare of all pilgrims from the state.
